Parents, you can use our Internet Public Access Catalog (IPAC) at home to help students check their own accounts, renew books, see what our library owns, and/or place holds on popular titles. This year our IPAC even includes a picture of the book cover and some readers' star ratings. Navigate to our Library Resources page through the Sexton Mountain website (click on Media Center). If you want to bookmark it directly, the address is: http://www.beaverton.k12.or.us/home/schools/library/
Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions about this process:

Happy Thanksgiving Week!
Before students leave for the Thanksgiving Break, we are spending time in the library on some fun, educational activities related to the holiday:
*Kinders and SRC - singing along with The Pilgrims Are Marching songbook
*First and Second Grade - listening to Who Were the Pilgrims?, a nonfiction booklet, and answering questions about this fascinating part of American history
*Third Grade - completing a Scavenger Hunt in both the Everybody and Fiction bookshelves, including finding one of our Thanksgiving titles
*Fourth and Fifth Grade - locating 3 "secret words" on the covers of three different books, which involves using their computer lab skills plus knowledge of the library

Thanks for checking back in to Mrs. Johnson' Journal which hits the highlights of the goings-ons in our Sexton Mountain Library!
This week we are celebrating the arrival of our Fall 2011 Scholastic Book Fair. This Fall we have a goal of putting 2,000 books into the hands of kids. If we reach our goal, that would generate 367,000 minutes of reading! In addition, a percentage of the money earned goes right back to our Library for the purchase of new library books. As the district no longer provides funds to us, this is the only way for us to raise money for the Library. Please help our school reach its goal by shopping at our Book Fair! Our Fall 2011 Book Fair schedule is below:
